IBEX BEZOAR HUNTING IN TURKEY.

Ibex bezoar hunting in Turkey is, together with big wild boar hunting, one of the most popular hunting modalities for foreign hunters in this country.

These marvellous animals have seen an increase in both quality and quantity in different areas where they live thanks to the management carried out. Turkey is the country that offers the most guarantees when it comes to hunting this marvellous animal. As a general rule, hunting is moderately hard but very satisfactory, increasing the degree of difficulty on some occasions when it comes to hunting animals that exceed 110 or 120 cm, being able to get Ibex that are around 140 centimeters in antlers.

We differentiate ourselves by having hunting reserves with a high density of animals, where access to the hunting grounds is very easy, being areas specially prepared for hunters who want a Bezoar Ibex and their physical qualities are not very optimal.

HUNTING AREAS:

The hunting area is the Taurus Mountains, and we recognise them mainly by the destination airports, which are Erzurum and Antalya, among others.  The latter is in the south of the Anatolian peninsula, with a very good density of animals and good lodges, but the chances of finding an animal over 110 cm are lower.

Another area is the North-East of Turkey near the Iranian border, in Erzurum. Here there is less density, but there is a greater chance of trophies around or above 130 cm.

HUNTING SEASON:

The hunting season runs from 1 August to 31 March, the best dates being the beginning of December, as this is when the Ibex are in heat and increase, very considerably, their daily activity in search of females, leaving their wooded shelters and offering more opportunities for their slaughter. Like our mountain buck, at this time of year they also take on a darker colour and their fur is more beautiful than at the beginning of the season. It is necessary to be patient when hunting ibex, as it is a very elusive animal.

HUNTING METHOD:

The hunting method is very similar to that of a Spanish Macho Montes de Beceite, moving from the hotel first thing in the morning in a 4×4 vehicle to the hunting areas, where we will start hunting. We will have to be equipped with good footwear, as sometimes we may encounter stony and slippery terrain, uncomfortable to walk on.

Hunting usually takes place at an average altitude of between 1,500 and 2,500 metres, although they can also be found a few metres above sea level.

ACCOMMODATION:

We will stay in city or mountain hotels, where each hunter will have his own private and individual room, equipped with all comforts. The quality of the food in the hotels is good. The food is very Mediterranean with lots of salad, fish, beans, chickpeas, chicken and lamb. The spices such as paprika and olive oil are very reminiscent of Spanish food.

POSSIBLE COMBINATIONS:

We can combine this modality with night hunting of big wild boars. Depending on the area where the ibex hunting takes place, without the need to change hotel, we can do night stalking after the daily ibex hunting. We leave for the hunt after dinner and return to the hotel around 1:00. In this time, you can easily visit 5/6 shooting grounds, with a good chance of shooting 1 or 2 big wild boars. On the other hand, in other ibex areas, you have to add 2/3 days more to guarantee the success of the night stalking, as the hunting areas of both animals do not coincide and you will have to move around.

Note:

The measurement of wild boars will be taken into account according to the longest tusk.

Being faithful to the premise of our organisation, and aware that hunting is not only an illusion, but also a challenge, we will make every effort and put all our knowledge into providing the best service, as well as achieving the best trophies for our clients, so that they return fully satisfied with this wonderful adventure.

WE RECOMMEND:

* It is advisable to bring any specific medicine that the person is taking.

* The hunting clothes you bring should be warm because when hunting in mountainous areas and at night, the temperature is low.

* If you bring your own weapons, remember to have them inspected at the point of origin before your departure, although if you do not wish to bring them we have weapons and ammunition available.

You will have to bring the hunting invitation and the documentation for the introduction of these. All this will be provided by Venatoria Safaris.

* The rifle scopes must go inside the rifle case and in no case in the hand luggage, since when taking the connecting flight, the Turkish authorities will not let them pass.

* We advise you to have medical and assistance insurance, Venatoria Safaris can provide it.
